Workshops That Actually
Change Your Team
Science-backed, theatre-inspired facilitation that turns workplace tension into trust, and transforms groups of individuals into high-performing, connected teams.
The Benefits Are Real —
and Lasting
Unlike traditional team-building events that fade by Monday morning, ConnectSkill workshops create structural changes in how your team thinks, communicates, and collaborates.
Science-Backed Methodology
Grounded in cognitive science and adult learning theory from Teachers College, Columbia University. Every exercise is designed to rewire collaboration patterns at the neurological level.
Psychological Safety
Theatre-based activities create a playful container where team members feel genuinely safe to take risks, make mistakes, and show up authentically.
Real Communication Skills
Move beyond surface-level icebreakers. Participants practice active listening, empathetic feedback, and clear expression through embodied, experiential learning.
Creative Problem Solving
Improv and collaborative storytelling unlock lateral thinking. Teams leave with new mental frameworks for tackling complex challenges together.
Lasting Connection
Shared physical and emotional experiences create bonds that go far deeper than typical team events. Participants consistently report stronger relationships months later.
Measurable Team Performance
Post-workshop assessments show measurable improvements in team cohesion, innovation output, and inter-departmental trust scores within 60 days.
Two Days of Transformation
Each ConnectSkill workshop is a carefully sequenced journey. Every hour builds on the last, creating a cumulative shift in team dynamics that unfolds over two immersive days.

Meet Shafik Bahou
ConnectSkill is built on a rare combination of academic rigor, professional experience, and deep human presence.

Shafik Bahou
Founder & Lead Facilitator, ConnectSkill
Shafik founded ConnectSkill at the intersection of two unlikely worlds: the rigorous science of how humans learn and connect, and the transformative power of live theatre. After completing his Masters in Cognitive Sciences in Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, Shafik trained extensively in ensemble theatre practices — discovering that the stage holds answers to questions that the lecture hall cannot.
His workshops have been described as "the first team event that actually mattered" by participants who walk in skeptical and leave with a fundamentally new relationship to their team. Shafik believes every team already has what it needs — the work is simply creating the conditions for it to emerge.
- M.A. Cognitive Science in Education — Teachers College, Columbia University
- Trained at William Esper Studio, Labyrinth Theatre, UCB Improv, and UCLA
Heard It From
Our Participants
Real voices from the people who've been in the room.
I've been to dozens of off-sites. ConnectSkill was the first one where people were still talking about it six months later. Shafik has a gift for creating safety and challenge at the same time.
Marcus W.
The theatre exercises felt unusual at first — and then suddenly I was watching my most reserved engineer open up in a way I'd never seen. That moment alone was worth the investment.
Priya S.
Shafik doesn't just run a workshop — he transforms the social contract of your team. Three months after, we still use the language and practices he introduced.

ConnectSkill experiences are designed to flex around your team's needs. Options range from a single focused one-hour session — great for a team meeting warm-up or a standalone skill — all the way to immersive multi-day retreats. Popular formats include half-day (3–4 hours), full-day (6–7 hours), and two-day deep-dive programs. Every format is built to feel complete, not cut short.
Yes. ConnectSkill has a fully-adapted virtual facilitation practice using platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Miro. Virtual sessions are purpose-designed for the online environment — not just in-person content delivered via screen share. Expect breakout rooms, interactive digital activities, and the same quality of presence and facilitation you'd get in the room.
For most workshops, 2–4 weeks of lead time is ideal. This allows for a proper discovery call, design customization, and any pre-workshop materials to be prepared. For larger engagements (multi-day, 50+ participants, or with pre/post assessments), 4–6 weeks is recommended. That said, reach out even if your timeline is tight — expedited bookings are sometimes possible.
ConnectSkill workshops work best with groups of 8 to 60 participants. Smaller groups (8–15) allow for deep relational work. Mid-size groups (16–40) are the sweet spot for most formats. For larger teams or all-hands events (40–60+), the workshop is structured with parallel small-group tracks to preserve intimacy. Groups under 8 can often be accommodated on a case-by-case basis.
Every booking starts with a discovery conversation — typically a 30–45 minute call — where we explore your team's current dynamics, specific challenges, goals, and context. From there, the session is designed around those inputs: activities are selected, sequenced, and framed to be directly relevant to your team's world. You'll never get an off-the-shelf experience.
Absolutely — this is actually central to how ConnectSkill works. Whether your team is navigating a merger, rebuilding trust after turnover, preparing for a product launch, or just trying to break out of silos, the workshop content is built around your real situation. Participants often remark that the exercises feel like they were designed specifically for their team.
Yes. A single workshop can create real momentum — but sustained change comes from integration. Follow-up options include: a 90-day team check-in call, post-workshop reflection resources, ongoing coaching for team leads, and booster sessions (shorter 1–2 hour sessions 4–8 weeks later). These can be added to any booking or discussed during the discovery process.
Most team-building events are social, not developmental — they're fun in the moment but rarely change anything. ConnectSkill is grounded in cognitive science and ensemble theatre practice, two fields that study how humans actually learn, connect, and change behavior. The activities are designed to create insight, not just entertainment. Teams leave with new skills and new patterns — not just good memories.
ConnectSkill has facilitated workshops across tech, finance, healthcare, education, media, and the non-profit sector. The methodology translates across industries because it works at the human level — not the functional level. Whether your team is a startup of 10 or a division of a Fortune 100 company, the core principles of trust, communication, and collaboration are universal.
